Celery is a herbaceous plant with the following characteristics:

- Family: Celery is a member of the parsley family.
- Origin: Celery was first cultivated in the Mediterranean region about 3,000 years ago.
- Uses: Celery stalks can be eaten raw, in salads, or as a flavoring in soups, stews, and pot roasts. Celery is also rich in vitamins, volatile oil, and phenolic compounds, and is used in the food and cosmetics industries
